LEARN

#1   GET FAMILIAR WITH OUR RESOURCES

Rotary Wildfire Ready Website

As you implement the Rotary Wildfire Ready program in your community, remember that the Rotary Wildfire Ready website is your central hub for everything you need. All of the information has been reviewed and supported by local fire departments and the Colorado State Forest Service, so you can trust it to be accurate, reliable, and consistent.

The site also gives you sharable resources such as brochures, checklists, our free app, and links to other trusted sources. These tools are designed not only to help individuals and families prepare, but also to make it easier for your Rotary club to build stronger wildfire readiness programs in your community.

Rotary Wildfire Ready APP

As you bring the Rotary Wildfire Ready program to your community, one of the best tools you can use is the Rotary Wildfire Ready app. It’s a complete interactive resource that puts all the key information from our website right at your fingertips.

The app includes before-and-after preparedness activities, videos, and other materials that make it easy to share and explain wildfire readiness concepts with your community. Best of all, it’s free, with no ads, and available on both Google Play and the Apple App Store.

Encourage your club members and community partners to download it because it is a simple, powerful way to make wildfire preparedness accessible to everyone you serve.

Rotary Wildfire Ready Digital Tools

As you introduce the Rotary Wildfire Ready program in your community, remember that RWR offers a suite of brochures with clear, easy-to-digest information on key wildfire preparedness topics such as defensible space, home hardening, go-bag essentials, fire-resistant landscaping, and evacuation checklists.

All of these materials have been vetted by local fire departments and the Colorado State Forest Service, so you can feel confident sharing them. This consistent, expert-endorsed information provides one trusted source you can rely on and distribute.

#2   SIGN UP NOW FOR THESE VITAL TOOLS

One of the most important things you should do is make sure you and your family are prepared.   Please get familiar with the vital tools below, use them and then encourage others to do the same.

Emergency Notification System

ACTION NEEDED:  SIGN UP WITH YOUR COUNTY !
Most residents don’t realize that they are not automatically signed up for emergency alerts and they must opt in to their county’s system. It is important to explain that this is the only way the county’s emergency management team can notify them in the event of an evacuation or other urgent situation.

Encourage people to act right away: “Don’t wait! Take just a few minutes to sign up today because it could make all the difference in receiving timely, life-saving information for you and your family.”

Watch Duty

ACTION NEEDED:  PUT WATCH DUTY APP ON YOUR PHONE
A key resource to emphasize is Watch Duty. It provides real-time wildfire alerts, supported by active and retired firefighters, dispatchers, and first responders who monitor radio scanners to deliver up-to-date, verified information about wildfires in your area.

Encouraging your community to download and use Watch Duty ensures they will have the latest information when every minute counts.  Best of all, it’s free, with no ads, and available on both Google Play and the Apple App Store.  www.watchduty.org

#3   LEARN SIMPLE STEPS TO SHARE

Get Wildfire Ready

Most homes are lost to embers, not flames. That is why it is so important for residents to be prepared when wildfire occurs. You do not need to be an expert, just share a few simple steps and then point people to the Rotary Wildfire Ready website for more details.
The three key actions to highlight are:
  • Get Ready
  • Create Defensible Space
  • Harden Your Home
The RWR website has everything they need to learn, take action, and stay informed. Use the brochures, checklists, and digital materials to guide people. Remember the goal is to connect them with trusted resources, not to have all the answers yourself.
